Philosophy is

"To think outside the established framework, to examine things independently—this is true philosophy." - Jim Rogers

I have been interested in to learn philosophy and at the same time been struggling to describe what is philosophy in my mind. Hundreds of celebrated philosophers, thousands of their books, millions of their chain of words. No wonder that I even lost where to start.

In the first place, my motive for philosophy was from an appetite to broaden the boundary of my empty thoughts. I easily find my limitation to think. A note and a pen help me to carry forward my reflection. But if a shape of estuaries, or the numbers of streams remain unchanged, I have to acknowledge the bottom of a barrage in the end.

When people think, there are two techniques to organize one's thought. One is induction and another is deduction. Both are not that difficult to exercise if you have logic. However, these methodologies are nothing more than inside of one's thought. It is like, repeatedly going back and forth on a road of logic within a small box.

As the above quote tells, I believe coming closer to philosophy provides us with, 1) recognition and acceptance for the external perspective, and 2) an intellectual training to approximate to that.

"Reflect on situations where conventional wisdom and custom turned out to be wrong. Take the time to find out what actually happened. This will help you to develop knowledge and confidence, so that the next time a decision is required, you will be able to constructively analyze the assumption of the majority." - Jim Rogers

I sense this is the true nature of philosophy.
